My Story
ENTER MY STUDIO
Efrat K Cohen-Colover is an architectural designer with broad experience in a variety of projects ranging from large scale commercial developments to domestic schemes. She has international experience both during her studies and previous work.
A graduate of Bezalel Academy of Design in Jerusalem (2000), Efrat won a Chevening Scholarship from the British Council and went on to complete an MA at the Architectural Association School of Architecture, London (2005). Whilst an undergraduate Efrat spent a year on exchange at the renowned Parsons School of Design in New York.
Efrat has previously worked for KPF (Kohn Pederson Fox) where she was a key member of the design team for large-scale projects such as The Pinnacle in London, Axa Tower in La Defense, Paris, and other schemes and competitions. Nowadays she is providing Private architectural design and Interior design consultation services.

Projects

The Pinnacle- City of London:
Design from initial design proposals through stages A to E.
Spiralling 287 meters (941 feet) upward from its base, the Pinnacle tower will form the apex of an emerging cluster of tall buildings in the centre of London's financial district. Designed to make substantial contribution to the public realm, the project involves reopening a ground-level pedestrian passageway closed to pedestrians by a previous building on the site since the 1980s and linking a number of important public spaces along Bishopsgate and St. Mary Axe. I was part of the planning team submitting planning applications and design proposals to the city of London, coordinating structure and services with leading consultants. During the last stages I produced technical drawings for the cladding systems in coordination with Gartner and Brookfield. The project is under construction.
The Sliver building and the Annex, London:
From 2007 I was responsible for inception concept planning and detailed design, façade and services of the 12 story Sliver building and the 13 story Annex Building adjacent to the Pinnacle Tower and part of the compound. The Sliver building is under construction.
Tower One- AXA, La Défense, Paris-Office tower substantial renovation:
Tour One First stands as a welcoming symbol to La Défense. In this project I worked mainly on the façade design and the top of the tower introducing various proposals concerning façades texture and the patterns to create richness and distinctiveness. Also I participated in 3D modelling and renovation and reconstruction of the tower main entrance floors. The project is under construction.
Imperial College residence hall, London, South Kensington:
Imperial College exceptional residence hall for students. I participated mainly in the detailed design of its high standard rooms, common and intermediate spaces. 2005
38 Bishopsgate, London:
Design Feasibility scheme for a new 12 story office building. I worked as only team member in developing a scheme for the great development company DIFA, suggesting a unique refurbishment and re-cladding of an existing building in the City of London. 2005
Parc du Millenaire, Paris:
Design of two office buildings, totalling area of 50,000sqm in the outskirts of Paris. I have been main team member through Concept design and planning application. 2006
MasdarHotel, Abu Dhabi:
Competition for a huge compound included a hotel, vast conference centre, and lucrative shopping mall in the ecological city Masdar.2009
Ajmakan-Compound:
Design of a residential compound, Saudi Arabia, Feasibility Study.2009
Amsterdam University Expansion:
Master plan and massing design proposals for the expansion of Amsterdam University compound in Holland. 2009

Primary assignment at MRA, from initial design to planning applications. I produced exclusive set of drawing of THE 1200sqm synagogue and a community centre in Ramot residential neighbourhood in Jerusalem.

The Ohalo institute for teachers Library, Katzerin:
Project architect of 600 square meters built area, 1500sqm of additional provisional area, and 2000 sqm of site planning in Katzerin, city in the north of Israel. I conceptualized the project and won planning applications for the office on the exclusive proposal. The project was built successfully in 2001-2003
Ashkelon Library, Israel:
Project architect of 3000sqm library and a public centre in Ashkelon, Israel. Development of a set of construction documents with a team of 3 architects. Built 2005
The Israeli lottery institution, Public libraries - team architect of the construction of 15 public libraries in which ASA -Asderban Sergio Architects won
office won in a national competition. The office proposed three main library prototypes of 500, 1000 and 3000 sqm and these were built throughout several main cities in Israel. Part of my role was to supervise the construction of the libraries and to produce alteration details and site development plans. Some of the libraries are still under construction. Most of them were completed between 2002-2004

Architect 2000-2001
Ben Gurion International airport : (Natbag 2000)
Working on the expansion of Ben Gurion International airport . The Design enclosed additional hangars of about 80,000sqm each, serving the purpose of the airport operational section. The new terminal of Ben Gurion International airport was opened in 2004.
High rise apartment buildings, “Shaar H-Academy” Netanya, Israel
Planning of a medium to high-rise apartments building in high density in Netanya- City north to Tel Aviv. The design involved planning application alterations and construction detailed drawings. The project was built in 2001

Team member and designer of several proposals for the renovation of a hospital in New Jersey , Ney York. In particular, refurbishment of approximately 1000sqm of one of its wings containing its entrance hall and reception area. 1997

The National Judo Centre, Paris:
Working on a large sport centre in Paris. My role concentrated on the design and the drawings of the main Facades for planning consent. The project was completed in 1998.

Rosen Villa Mesilat Zion Village, Israel
Private Vila (total area of 500sqm). The house is located in a forest on the outskirts of Jerusalem. From initial design proposals, planning applications, On site coordination. Detailed design and construction documents. The project was built in 2004.
The Third Line, Jerusalem
Interior design of a Volunteer Centre, which assists homeless teenagers, Jerusalem. The project was built in 2004.
Tutoring
Tutor in the main Design Studio sessions, Bezalel Academy of Art And Design, The department of architecture, Jerusalem 1997-1999
Working as a professor assistant for a first year students helping them to find methods to approach planning and design in architecture. From Investigation of a site, through building up a concept, developing an idea from sketches to finally a more comprehensive architectural language. The emphasis was for each student to develop his own unique architectural language of expression.
